New test of WordPress App
Updated my WordPress app to check if the issue with writing was related to an issue with an older version.
So this post is just to check if I can edit text higher in the post.
Yep that was the problem/\. Now it has been updated having no issue editing sections in the post.
writing a post using Blog+
Does have a simple Text Editor but not a lot of options. Unless I am missing something?
The main options are to change text style and color plus insert a hyperlink.
It isn’t quite obvious how to add categories or tags. Or even how to start writing but clicking around solves those problems.
Although it does include easy option to add other content which is cool.
And I’ve now added a cool video easily! But unfortunately the video won’t work at this stage as we’re not supporting the embed code it uses
But will do soon!
But it was a bit slow adding my image.
Now lets see how it goes when published!
And off course as you can see can’t move things around the text.

Writing a post using BlogWriter
Looks like I needed to read the fine print as this app is designed for an iPhone and not an iPad.
While with some apps that isn’t an issue — not a great aspect in this case.
Also unlike the other blogging apps where you can close the app in the middle of writing a post and when you open again your draft still exists — with this app this isn’t the case.
You can also only add categories and not tags.
Now lets try publishing this post.
And as you can see the image can only be added to the top of the post.
Writing a post inside the dashboard using iCabmobile
One of the most annoying aspects is that the visual editor isn’t supported on an iPad so if you write inside the dashboard you need to use the HTML mode.
So this now means you need to know the HTML code or how to use the HTML toolbar.
Bit more painful that an app that includes options for easily adding the HTML code but not too bad.

Adding images is definitely more challenging and most web browers on an iPad won’t let you select an image to upload. fortunately you can upload an image using iCabMobile — you just need to know the tricks for adding
Trick is you need to upload the image, copy the image URL and then add using the img icon.
And as you can see post written easily with dashboard with images aded.
Writing a post using Blogsy
Now it is time to use Blogsy.
This app is designed to do a lot more than just blogging so will be interesting to compare the difference.
Good aspects are that it includes a toolbar for formatting the post. So now let’s try using it?
Here’s some bolding of text and some italics.
You can even easily add heading styles! Nice!
Here’s a Heading 3
Only difference is you need to select the text to apply the heading style.
You can also easily add bullet and number lists:
- this is cool
- and easy
Much nice than remembering the code when using the WordPress app.
Very nice formatting toolbar and easy to use.
Adding images to a post is considerably more confusing than using BlogPress but can be done.
You can also change between visual and HTML view easily while writing.
Like BlogPress it lacks the ability to manage comments and pages however you can add categories and tags.
it is harder to learn to use but the formatting toolbar is very handy!
Now for new test of WordPress app
Now I’ve done a thorough test of BlogPress it is time to retest the WordPress app to reflect better on the diffences.
Downsides of the WordPress app are no easy mechanism for adding HTML so you need to write it manually and know the HTML code = painful.
I also have trouble going up and down areas within my text in my post so lets see what happens this time. Same issue. Doesn’t matter where I place it when I start to type it immedately jumps to end of the text which stops me from editng properly
And wont let me upload my photo to the post. Not happy
Troubleshooting schedule post issue when using BlogPress
So now I’ve manage to confirm that it is definitely an issue that I’m managing to turn a post from a publish post into a scheduled post if I edit it.
Now the key is to work out how to fix the issue as it sort of defeats the purpose if I then need to log into the blog dashboard to change the post to publish.
My theory is that it is related to the timezone on the iPad versus the timezone inside the blog dashboard. So I’ve now change the timezone in Settings > General to ensure it is correct for my location.
Fingers crossed!
Here’s how I edited the timezone.

Wonder if it worked?
Here’s the test
Good thing I’m good at troubleshooting blog issues or that one would have driven me crazy!
I was correct and related to the timezone on iPad vs blog!
Gold star for my troubleshooting and BlogPress gets Gold Star for being easy to use!
